Viton® is the registered DuPont name for Flourocarbon. Flourocarbon is one of the most chemically resistant rubber compounds suitable for a number of applications. Flourocarbon is resistant to oils, fuels, lubricants and most mineral acids, and it also has excellent resistance to aliphatic hydrocarbon fluids that act as solvents for many other rubbers. Flourocarbon also has very good resistance to atmospheric oxidation, sun, weather, fungus and mold making it one of the most versatile rubber compounds when chemical attack has been determined as the reason for failure. Flourocarbon is not suitable for Esters, amines, keytones and steam. At Norwesco we stock 48″ widths, available in 1/16″, 1/8″, 3/16″, and 1/4″ thick. If you may have an application where flourocarbon is required, contact us and we can have one of our inside sales staff work with you to offer a solution to your specific needs.
